Why did it take 27 years for ‘the truth’ to come out about the Hillsborough soccer stampede?

Lastly, and I am sorry to be so critical of your post as I know you want to bring attention to the content. As an article centred around the headline in the Sun that day, your description of the disaster as a ‘soccer stampede’ suggesting some kind of mass, out of control movement also needs a rethink. What happened at Hillsborough after the gates at the Leppings Lane end of the ground were opened resulted in a slow and deadly crush as hundreds of people were funnelled into an area too small to hold them, those at the back had no idea what was unfolding in front of them as they pushed their way into the ground. There was no exit, just more fans and a fence that would not give.
