Why Are My Hands Always Cold?

Having cold hands all the time? Even during summer time? Regular gloves cannot help? You need to keep an eye on this problem because it can be a warning sign of a health condition. It can be a symptom for several health conditions.

The following health disorder are linked to cold hands:

Hypothyroidism — causes increased sensitivity to cold.
Raynaud’s syndrome – it causes reduced blood flow to the extremities.
Anemia – having cold skin is one of the symptoms related to anemia.
Underweight – skinny men and women have little body fat and are not able to keep warmth.
Poor blood circulation – caused by many factors and can affect both the upper and lower extremities.

Other health disorders such eczema, dermatitis, chilblains, cellulitis, wounds, ulcers and muscle and joint pain can be aggravated by cold.

Cold hands can happen at any time. You should be worried when this problem becomes constant and happens even in hot weather.

Things that can help

Some foods can help, including ginger, cinnamon, chili, garlic and pepper. They are known for increasing blood circulation, thus helping you warm up.

Doing some exercises that can increase blood flow to the hands are also recommended. Do them a few times a day.

When you are outdoors on cold days, protect your hands with battery heated gloves (See them here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqG8Z8d8xWg). The heat generated from these gloves will warm your hands for hours.
