Do College Students Need More Exposure to the Workplace?
Nicole Dieker

I now work in an office that gets several interns a year from different types of schooling backgrounds. I’d say experience in a service/retail job and a strong command of writing and critical thinking skills would help prepare these kids way more than extracurriculars and specific job training classes in school. We’ve gotten some complete dopes who don’t have a clue that they’re supposed to show up on time, not wear sweats to the office, and not interrupt colleagues when talking. This bad behavior would be weeded out quite quickly if they’d ever been accountable to a crappy job before.
