From Lazy to Crazy
Simple tips to help change your bad habits and prepare for that healthy summer body!
Let me tell you guys all about my least favorite quality of myself… LAZINESS. I absolutely hate lazy people, but I can only say this because I fit this category, along with whoever else may be reading. And yes, I am talking about being lazy at the gym. In fact, I let it get so bad that I just flat out quit going last month! But, that’s why I’m writing this post: to help myself and YOU get out of this slump.
First, I noticed that I was always tired. To me, this makes absolutely no sense because I work at a desk job, sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours everyday. I thought to myself “how can you be so sleepy when it’s only 5:30?!”
Exercise makes a HUGE difference in your energy levels! Keeping your body active is the best way to stay alert and energetic. Exercise can do a world of good to boost your energy, so even on days when you don’t feel up to it, try to do some kind of physical activity, such as walking, strength training or cardio to kick your feel-good endorphins into high gear.
We have all heard the saying that food is energy. YES PEOPLE! And no, this does not mean that you will have this energy for long periods of time, no matter what you eat, In fact, the healthier foods you eat are better energy sources for a reason. Carbohydrates are digested as sugars in our system. My dad would always tell me as a kid “if it’s white, it’s not right”. Most of your carbs are white: rice, bread, sugars… the list goes on and on. Try eating foods that will stay in your system and keep you full longer, like proteins and fibers.
Can you think of a reason to not go to the gym today? I always do right before its time to grab my sneakers and gym bag. As soon as my alarm goes off, all I can think is “well, maybe after this episode” or after this nap, or after this and that… eventually the fact that I don’t feel like it became a good enough excuse to not go be active. So, my new motto for the next month is NO EXCUSES!!!!
No more eating out, no more naps, no more BS! It may seem a little extreme, but winter is the time when beach bodies are made, and I know I don’t want to look back at all of the excuses and wish I just just sucked it up. Stay positive, the journey may be long, but it will all be worth it in the end.
