What do you need to know about Menopause and HRT

Menopause is a condition where a woman stops experiencing her menstrual periods due to fewer hormones controlling the reproduction. At this stage a woman can no longer be able to conceive because their fertility at this stage is very low. The mature menopause occurs at the age of 51 and for other women at 45 years. The premature one occurs before 40 years which can be a great disadvantage to those women who got into marriage late. All these are natural menopauses but there are others than are human made. One of the cases includes a situation where a woman’s ovaries are removed for their own best known reasons. Women experience a lot of physical and internal changes that cause much discomfort to them.

Signs and effects of menopause

The symptoms of menopause vary from one individual to another. They are often caused by changing differences between the two hormones; progesterone and oestrogen that are manufactured in the ovaries. Of course the one most obvious sign of menopause is the stopping of menstruation for over a year. It is always accompanied by hot flashes, sweating at night, moodiness, urinary problems, changes in sexual pleasure, drying of the skin and joint pain. This signs majorly occur during perimenopause and can be treated or their effects lowered.

Treatment of the menopause sign treatment

Sometimes menopause effects can be too hard to an individual such that they can’t be able to control on the own. At this point the best option for them is to see a doctor for medical assistance. Birth control pills are most of the times what the doctors recommend to reduce hot flashes and control the unexpected heavy menstrual periods. Anti-depressants and blood pressure medicine are also used. Menopace is also one of the best supplements that can be used to slow down the effects. Exercising, avoiding smoking, being stress free and avoiding alcohol can also help to ease the effects

One of the most confusing treatments is the Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). This targets the root cause which is fluctuation of the hormones. It tries to balance the hormones by inducing estrogen and progesterone into the body through the medicine. The HRT is majorly used to treat hot flushes and other symptoms of menopause. In addition to treatment, the hormone shields the body from dementia and heart disease. However the doctors later discovered that HRT had so much negative effects on the body hence in dilemma of using it.

Effects of HRT

The health effects of hormonal treatment are more pronounced in the post-menopausal women. This led to HRT not being recommended for heart diseases and memory loss prevention. The main dangers that can pose to the body are; breast cancer and stroke which are even more serious than menopause itself. Therefore before considering this treatment, you need to discuss with your doctor the effects and the advantages of this treatment. It is better to apply the available best menopause supplements and the natural ways already elaborated above.

The people who are post-menopausal are totally not recommended for this treatment at all. The premenopausal however may be given an option of choosing the treatment but with restrictions of taking it in minimal amounts. The must be ready to face the consequences without blaming any one. A family which has a history of cancer may not also be recommended to use the therapy because the chances of breast cancer may be very high.

Women who experience premature menopause due to ovary removal are not also recommended to use HRT until they are above 45 years because it can cause them severe negative effects. These include short lifespan, depression, anxiety, coronary disease and osteoporosis. However these women with premature menopause experience may not be in danger breast cancer when they use HRT at the right time hence acquiring more benefits from the therapy than risks.

The bad thing about this HRT therapy, especially when it consists of a combination of estrogen and progesterone hormone makes breast cancer unable to be detected.

Conclusion

Choices that you make in life can either negatively or positively affect you. For instance the HRT treatment is a choice that you have to make and you are made aware of the effects. It will all depend on how you will view the situation. If you see that the advantage of the drug to you is more than the disadvantage then it is not wrong for you to choose it. One thing you need to remember is that menopause is not a disease and every woman goes through at a particular stage in life. You should also consider restrictions given by the doctors for you to be able to choose.
