Alright!! What you read ahead might sound counter intuitive to majority of the people out there including you, but I urge everyone who has clicked on this post to just read it once and if you still feel unsatisfied then it’s my humble request to try this out yourself and you will be shocked to see the perspective change in your mindset.

First of all, what are Mental Models!?

These are nothing but the systems which you set for yourself to attain maximum productivity in all areas of your life.

As James Clear explains, “Each mental model offers a different framework that you can use to look at life … If you develop a bigger toolbox of mental models, you’ll improve your ability to solve problems because you’ll have more options for getting to the right answer. This is one of the primary ways that truly brilliant people separate themselves from the masses of smart individuals out there.”

Most of the self help “gurus” preach about setting a goal in your life and to envision yourself reaching that specific goal. To always think about success and expect some sort of manifestation to be bestowed upon you to achieve success…they call it “Power of Visualization”. Yes you should set yourself a clear Goal in life BUT use this mental model 👇

The question you must ask yourself should go from “ How do I achieve Success? ” to “ How do I fail as fast as possible? ” and figure out the next steps as quickly as possible so that I can learn and figure out what’s going on! Instead of always thinking about how can you get this task done right so that I can achieve success in it, shift your mindset to What are the possible ways in which I can Fail at this? Failure is inevitable and you are bound to FAIL.

Having a mindset of achieving perfectionism in each and every task that you choose to do is only going to let your self esteem go down the rabbit hole.

The other aspect which might cause hindrance while shifting to this mindset can be “Fear of Failure”. In which case, kindly ask yourself “what have you got to lose?”…the answer is mostly “nothing”. So, you might as well try it out. If it works Great, if not then take it as a learning and move on. You want to keep the desired outcome in my mind but you should also expect what can go wrong and how quickly would you be able to reiterate the whole process?!

Just follow these 3 main steps -

  1. Initiation — Start Right NOW!!…you don’t have to have the perfect timing to start or the perfect time table to follow, you can figure out stuffs along the way but just START.
  2. Speed — Once you have started, you would want to quickly get the work done keeping in mind that I will fail at some point in time and it is perfectly ALRIGHT!!
  3. Reiterate — Once you hit the breaking point, you should be able to tweak in subtle changes every single time and try to get the most desired outcome for your respective goals.

I should have published this article since 1 year 6 months and 25 days ago BUT I myself had been a victim to this Perfectionist Trap” and I’m guilty of it :)
