Are you interested in treating yourself to a fancy dessert menu? Or do you have a significant other deserving of a sweet treat? If you’re willing to shell out a few coins, take a look at five desserts that America’s Finest City has to offer, that may hurt your wallet, but will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth.

  1. Extraordinary Desserts — With the word “extraordinary” built into the name, you’d think this dessert place would be a little extra with their prices. Every dessert starts off in the double digit price range. The cheapest item is a six-pack of cookies and even that will cost you $15. Not only are you paying for a delectable dessert, but you’re also paying for a piece of artwork. With two locations in San Diego (Balboa Park and Little Italy), this dessert haven is the perfect way to end a night out if you’re willing to part with some of that green paper.

2. Han’s & Harry’s — If you thought Ben & Jerry’s was the only iconic duo in the dessert world, you clearly haven’t experienced a fresh fruit strudel from Hans & Harry’s. Hans Zandee and Harry Eijermans brought their Holland strudels with them when they created their own bakery in Bonita, CA. Make your way to southern San Diego County and you will have the opportunity to partake in a treat that has been serving the community since 1991. However, the cheapest strudel starts at $29.99. All strudels are 24 inches long and serve 10–12 people, so maybe you can call up your friends and split the costs. Your wallet might not thank you, but your tastebuds sure will.

3. Le Parfait Paris — Some might say that Le Parfait Paris is trop cher (very expensive) because of how much they charge for their macarons, but you get what you pay for. In 2015, San Diego Magazine voted it as one of the best restaurants in San Diego. They won for best bakery, best dessert, best brunch and best French cuisine. This French restaurant has two locations in San Diego. It can be found in the Gaslamp at 555 G St., or at 2820 Historic Decatur Rd. in Liberty Station. If you’re willing to spend $30 for a 12-pack of authentic French macarons, head on down. By the time you’re finished you’ll only be able to utter one word and that is “Magnifique!”

4. Chocolat — If you’re not in the mood for macarons, you can enjoy another delicious French dessert at Chocolat. Located in Hillcrest, this “European-Inspired Bistro, Creperie & Cremerie” offers a large selection of crepes. Some of the flavors include: honey and powder sugar, nutella, berries and vanilla bean gelato and many more. With the exception of the honey and powder sugar crepe, the rest of the items on the menu are going to cost you over $11. They open at 9 a.m. and what better way to start your day off than with a sweet treat? After all, breakfast is the most important meal of the day.

5. The Melting Pot — While this last location is more of a swanky restaurant, they do have a dessert menu that you will be fond of. If you and your significant other would like to reenact Justin Bieber’s “chillin by the fire while we eating fondue,” than I have the perfect place for you. The Melting Pot is located in the Gaslamp area of San Diego and features eight different chocolate fondue options. The flavors range from caramel toffee crunch to raspberry dark chocolate. At a price of $9.75 to $10.75 per person, this dessert can be a little pricey. But after a long day of studying or a long day of classes I have three words to say: TREAT YO SELF!
