“Super Tuesday”

Yesterday, Alabama had a less than “super” Tuesday. While I’m sure many of you are already pissed just from reading that opening sentence, I encourage you to keep reading anyway, Trump supporters.

Let me be clear. I love Alabama, especially the super awesome city of Birmingham that I’m proud to call my home. However, yesterday my state let me down in a tremendous way. After seeing the poll results and realizing that Alabama had elected Trump as the potential presidential candidate to represent our state, I wasn’t just furious, I was also disappointed.

I found myself angry and mortified that I live in a state that is actively supporting such a callous, hate-mongering, fickle individual. How do you justify that, Alabamians? Do you have to actively set aside your own humanity in order to vote for a candidate who clearly has none?

I have to admit, at the start of this presidential race I found it comical that Donald Trump was throwing his hat in the ring. “What a joke,” I thought, “he doesn’t stand a chance.” I mean really, who would seriously vote for the bloated-looking guy with the bad comb over (as if there’s ever a good one)? Imagine my surprise.

I just want my fellow Alabamians to consider this: you just voted for a man who advocates violence without even a second thought, makes both racist and misogynistic comments, can’t make up his mind about his OWN political views, and thinks that the “big problem this country has is being politically correct.” Are you proud of yourself, Alabama? Because I’m not.
