Has your opinion about the SAMR model changed [after reading this article]? As a teacher would you still use it to underpin your teaching activities? Why/why not?

The SAMR model has offered some interesting perspectives and strategies about how we can engage students in the classroom. However i still am in debate of wether or not to implement this in to my classroom as a teacher, as the article states that through the increase of technology in the classroom is has led to the decrease in students reading ability. Despite this fact, i would still include this strategy in my class as i think it is a great way to introduce peer learning in an engaging way that incorporates real life technologies of games and other programs. As i become more confident in my teaching abilities i would use the two areas of substitution and augmentation.

Bloom’s Taxonomy has undergone many revisions since it was published e.g. Krathwohl, 2000; Marzano, 2000, etc. Compare and contrast Bloom’s Taxonomy with a revised taxonomy of your choice.

Bloom’s taxonomy created in 1956 by a phycologist named Dr Benjamin Bloom, his reason because he wanted to promote higher forms of thinking for students to learn.

Bloom’s Taxonomy defines the six major areas in the cognitive process:

Krathwohl decided to reassess and revise Bloom’s Taxonomy by changing the names to these categories due to them being a more accurate approach to how the mind goes through the steps of learning and is more active in the form of thinking. I identify with this learning theory, that teachers have to be flexible as each student will not be at the same cognitive process step as each other. Therefore, the teach has to cater the learning to suit each individual rather than clump all student in the same category.
