That little girl needs strong female role models. I say, when she reaches age twelve or so, introduce her to The Song Of The Lioness Quartet, and let her discover the rest of the books in the universe if she likes those four first. It’s about a little girl who pretends to be a boy in order to train to be a night, because she doesn’t want to train to be a lady and marry and do nothing with her life. The quartet is about the first bit of her life as a page and a squire and a roaving knight. It’s very pro girl power, and very “Anything you can do, I can do better, as long as I try”. Though I do warn there is PG13 sex scenes, so you may not want to read them to her. (He captured her in his arms and kissed her, depositing her on the bed, kind of sex scenes, still uncomfortable to read to an audience)
I have to tell you about my experience with this film.
