NYPD Cop Maintains “Race Baiting Cop Haters” List of Activists

A friend recently pointed out that an NYPD officer for the Midtown North Precinct (@NYPDMTN), which frequently polices protests, including the weekly #PeoplesMonday, follows many of us on twitter.

I checked out @Thomas_Geraghty’s account & he is quite obviously P.O. Geraghty of the Midtown North Precinct.

In fact, his #FirstTweet states he started tweeting for the purpose of doing it at work, a violation of NYPD patrol guide.

And along with “checking in” at the Midtown North Precinct regularly, he does share some of his thoughts on being an NYPD officer.

(Reminder, the NYPD needed to hire 1,300 more cops this year to meet the needs of the city, I guess)

Like Officer Martinez, busted recently for pointing a gun at, sucker-punching, and arresting a bystander for legally filming him, Officer Geraghty has a penchant for costumes, which Midtown North ironically cracks down on in Times Square.

He seems to strongly, strongly believe that Mayor de Blasio is responsible for a lunatic killing two NYPD officers.

Of course he doesn’t seem to have too much respect for #MikeBrown or the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

But most troubling and notable is that Officer Geraghty of Midtown North keeps a “list” of “race bating cop haters.”

On Geraghty’s list of “race baiting cop haters” are Daily News Senior Justice Writer Shaun King (@ShaunKing) & Eric Garner’s daughter, Erica Garner (@ES_Snipes)

It also includes Bill de Blasio’s adviser Five Mualimm-ak (@MRFIVEINC), recently arrested for legally filming an arrest in Midtown North.

To be clear, Mualimm-ak was wrongfully arrested in @NYPDMTN where one officer has him on a “race baiting cop hater’ list.

And Geraghty’s list of “race baiting cop haters” also includes @BlackLivesMatter, former Baltimore Mayoral Candidate DeRay Mckesson (@deray), Johnetta Elzie (@Nettaaaaaaaa), & me.

The reason I find this troubling is because he’s an active cop for Midtown North, which routinely polices protests, including the weekly #PeoplesMonday, which I attend almost every week.

Officer Geraghty has a clear bias against people exercising the 1st Amendment rights he’s paid to protect & it concerns me it could come out at a protest, possibly violently.
