According to Jake Frankenfield, Artificial Intelligence (AI) describes the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are trained to think like humans and imitate their actions. It can also be related to any machine that portrays traits associated with a human mind such as learning and problem solving.

AI doesn’t just influence companies’ products and services, but many aspects of our lives.

Here at Keenious our experts know everything that there is to know about AI, but there are some interesting facts that not everyone is aware of. Our AI experts have put together a list of some interesting details that you can learn about and show some instances where you were using AI in your everyday life, and you didn’t even know it.

  1. Using AI in photography

The average person takes at least one photo a day, some of us more, but while they were channeling their inner photographer AI was working hard in the background. There are a variety of applications for AI when using a smartphone camera. For instance, your phone’s computer uses AI to automatically recognise particular subjects, like a face, and adjust the camera to bring it into focus. AI is also working to make slight edits to your photos to improve lighting, blur the background, and make those colours pop. AI is used in a lot of aspects of photography which I say most people do not put a lot of thought into when using their device.

AI is also used for facial recognition on smartphones. Facial recognition is a technology that can match a human face up to a digitised picture. Companies like Apple use facial recognition for their devices as a security feature, the technology learns and assesses your facial features and stores them. Similar, but more comical, are faceswaps, which also uses AI to detect the two faces and then quickly swap them around. I bet that every time you use your phone’s facial recognition you weren’t aware of this advanced technology working away.

2. Auto suggestion on your keyboard

Have you ever been in a heated debate with someone through text or Twitter and the autosuggestion box above your phone’s keyboard is guessing the next word in your sentence, giving you a lightning fast response? Well, if you have, you should know that you should be thanking AI.

Auto suggestion on your keyboard resembles some of the same qualities as Keenious. Just like auto suggestions, we suggest items for your topic — you read, assess, learn, and make a decision whether to use it or not.

Predictive text software gives relevant suggestions as you type, based on the theme of your content and typing patterns, and often will improve the more you use it.

3. AI In Ads

AI is basically the future of advertising. AI is used in advertising to segment and characterise audiences, to build creative ads, it is also used to advance brand performance and ad spend. Ads created using AI tend to convert better according to Google. As AI uses human intelligence, it makes data-based predictions about what will resonate with which potential customer. Have you ever been searching for a specific item on your phone and then sometime later an ad pops up on your social media feed advertising that topic? Well, if so, that’s AI working very hard to target your needs.

AI is increasingly involved in people’s lives, whether they are aware of it or not. From taking photos to autosuggestion and even to the ads being shown to you. We believe at Keenious that AI is a part of the future, it improves engagement with users and allows each of us to unlock huge improvements in the way we do things.
