If it only happened once we’d hardly notice.

On Saturday: Trump Jr. says he met with the Russians to talk about adoption issues.

On Sunday: Trump Jr. admits the Russians told him before the meeting it was to talk about dirt on Hillary Clinton.

On Monday: Trump supporters are covering their ears and shouting “lalalala.”

Trump and his team keep moving the goalposts. Here is how they have changed their responses over the past year to the issue of Russia meddling in the election and the possibility of people in the Trump campaign being involved.

Position 1: The Russians did not meddle in the election. Any claim the Russians did meddle in the election is fake news.

Position 2: The Russians might have meddled in the election but the Trump campaign did not have any contacts with Russians. Any claim the Trump campaign had any contact with Russians is fake news.

Position 3: Okay, maybe lots of people in the Trump campaign had contacts with Russians (that they lied about), including but not limited to, Carter Page, Roger Stone, Paul Manafort and Michael Flynn. But none of the contacts had anything to do with any collusion about the election. Any claim that any of the contacts had anything to do with any collusion about the election is fake news.

Position 4: Okay, Trump Jr., had a meeting with the Russians which he was told in advance of the meeting was for the Russians to give him dirt on Hillary Clinton. But collusion with enemies of the country is not against the law. Collusion is okay. Happens all the time. Routine stuff.
