In my opinion, this is a failure in architectural education. I like buildings but I love the people that use them and their emotions, behaviors, experience, work processes, performance, productivity, goals, desires, needs, etc. even more. So, I became an environmental psychologist. I am now becoming a mixture between architect, environmental psychologist, industrial engineer, design researcher, and UX researcher. I like UX but I love the built-environment and have been unwilling to move to digital environments. Sadly, architects don’t typically think about the life-cycle of the built-environment. Digital environments are frequently changing, evolving, and adapting to satisfy the changing needs of its users. We spend 87% of our lives in buildings. Lets start designing them to more easily adapt the changing spatial needs of its users.
