While we do ask similar questions in UX and architecture, what is different is the methods we use to answer the question. In general, architects don’t employ or use similar research methods that are used in UX, Design Thinking, Design Research, Lean Six Sigma, etc. I believe this is because architects do not typically care about the life-cycle of the facility. Additionally, Facilities Managers are not user-based data collectors either. They focus on facility performance. Similarly, environmental psychologists have not been adopted by the architecture community and their focus most certainly IS on user experience. So, two professions that DO care about the life-cycle of facilities and users are not asked to work closely with architects. It is a real shame!
