I’m cautiously optimistic about this (already signed up to volunteer) because many campaign offices would really benefit from the resources so many in tech have. But I say cautiously because Trump being elected is a symptom of issues that have been around for a while. If the Bay Area is just waking up to the fact that a lot of flyover states had been trending red for years and that concerns of minorities were always real, then seriously listening to people who showed up before shit hit the fan is fundamental. Your piece addresses that, but being a UX designer I have seen a lot of well-meaning tech people get excited about an idea and unintentionally edge personas and research toward that being the solution we go with. That said, I’ve also volunteered in a lot of campaign offices where the tech community’s skills would be gamechangers, especially on local levels.
