Hello, Gustavo. Thank you for your comment. My article is illustrating how I did not initially pick up on the adaptive nature of the 2-minute rule. Even after multiple reads, it is easy to miss the nuances within David Allen’s text. When I finally realized that I was not applying the rule effectively for my workflow, it opened up the possibility to implement the rule differently. I hate the 2-minute rule because for me it is ineffective — not in any way a criticism of David Allen. I prefer to shorten the length of time in my weekly review by choosing to NOT do everything in my inbox that takes two minutes or less and instead, spreading out my small tasks during the week where I can fit them in comfortably. From my experience speaking with many people using GTD, I find that it is not an uncommon mistake to make, particularly for beginners, to be too rigid. The purpose of this text is to help others see that flexibility is not only okay, but it is encouraged.
