My iPhone 6s Plus made all the difference when I proposed to my girlfriend. Here’s how…

This isn’t a sponsored post. But, um, Apple…feel free to send me a watch.

Lauren and I have been friends for 5 and dating for about 3. This isn’t a story about us, per se, but let’s just say we’re really good at being a cute couple.

About 6 months ago, I began to really entertain the idea of buying an engagement ring. About a month ago, I pulled the trigger at Ken and Dana Design here in NYC and got Lauren this bad boy.

The Proposal

I had a loose plan on how I was going to propose. The ring was done well ahead of schedule and I knew I wouldn’t be able to hold on to it, so I decided upon my apple picking scenario.

The day came, she had no idea at all, and I couldn’t wait to get to Water Mill out on eastern Long Island after departing Brooklyn.

The apples were picked. The stage was set. We just needed a decent photographer to capture the moment.

Luckily, we happened upon a couple who we would later find out had been married for 35 years. She took a nice picture of the two of us, which I verified before letting her go about her business among the apple trees.

Lauren had no idea what was about to go down and I wanted to keep it that way. When I made sure our photographer wasn’t chopping off our heads, I asked her to take one more. Lauren gave me this side eye kind of look. How dare I ask for another picture?

In this situation, I would have much rather had pictures than a video, which quite frankly, would have given it away. Little did I realize my iPhone 6s Plus had me covered with the new “live pictures” functionality. I put them alongside each other in iMovie and now have a keepsake to look back on forever. Thanks, Apple.
