Thank you for giving me a lot to think about, John. Sometimes when I write it’s because I myself am trying to figure out what I think about something. I’m not sure what I think about this in its entirety yet. I guess, with the essay, the point of view I was trying to articulate is that I see a lot of people label others as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ in their argumentation…almost as a form of ad hominem attack, instead of addressing a person’s behavior or argument. I also think that we tend to get locked into our way of viewing things, to such a degree that we can’t even see another perspective. This article is a good example of the author believing she is a ‘good’ person who cares about others, and those who disagree with her are essentially ‘bad’ people who don’t care about others: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/i-dont-know-how-to-explain-to-you-that-you-should_us_59519811e4b0f078efd98440

But if you take any of the policy positions she mentions, like the minimum wage, you can see that perhaps conservatives might have their reasons for disagreeing with while also caring about people: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/06/26/new-study-casts-doubt-on-whether-a-15-minimum-wage-really-helps-workers/

Still thinking.
