Earlier this month I was lucky enough to be able to host a virtual panel on science fiction’s historic influence on technology, with a range of experts including sci-fi authors Cory Doctorow and Malka Older. This was the kickoff panel of the new “Applied Sci-Fi” project I’ve been building with the amazing folks at Arizona State University’s Center for Science and the Imagination, with more panels and workshops to come over the course of the next year thanks to the support of the Sloan Foundation. You can check out the panel video on the event page, and sci-fi interfaces maven Chris Noessel was also kind enough to whip up this little cartoon summary of the event!
