From my experience I didn’t leave my well-paid job until I was clear on my “Direction” at least.

I spent many work hours (while at my paid job) dreaming up ideas and formulating plans

Until I stumbled on my passion.

Working for the man isn’t the problem, the problem is working for the man with no plan to leave or leaving without a plan.
