5 Easy Tips to Help Lose Weight
The things that we really want don’t often come easy….the same may be said for weight loss.
So here are 5 tips that you can implement immediatly…
#1 Squeeze lemons or limes on your meals. When having carbohydrates (rice, Pasta etc) squeezing lemons on limes ‘apparently’ drops the Gycemic index by up to 33%, meaning there’s less spike to you insulin (or weight loss that a good thing).
#2 Drink fizzy water. If you anything like me I’m not really a big fan of plain old water but I do love bubbles. It’s just something about the way they hit the back of the throat and gives me that psychological feeling of quenchin my thirst. Anyway, the fizziness fills you up even more.
#3 Eat protein for Breakfast. Rather than having carbhydrates such as cereals, toast or fruit which often make us tired and sluggish. Protein raises tyrosine, which helps promote the brain to manufacture norepinephrine and dopamine that help keep us alert and energised.
If you delay carbs in the morning you’ll be more sensitive to insulin, especially if you don’t have your carbs until after your workout. We also know that protein keep us fuller for longer.
#4 Drink hot beverages when eating high fat meals. I first heard about this from Dr Eric Serrano and to be honest, anything he says I listen to and take as gospel. It seems that the hot liquid helps breakdown the fat, therefore making it easier to be broken down and used as energy.
- Bonus tip here…try to avoid carbohydrates and fats in the same meal. Always try and have either protein and fats or carbs and proteins. This is known as nutrient partitioning.
#5 Use the 5, 10, 15 Method. I got this from Eoin Lacey and it’s works a treat. Firstly take 5 Diaphragmatic breaths (breathing in and expanding the stomach), then take 10 seconds between mouthfuls whislt put your fork or spoon down. Finally, make sure it takes at least 15 minutes to finish your meal. Helping reduce any after meal cravings.
