The Electoral Commission have usefully published the results by counting area, and classified them according to the 12 Regions.

I have put these regions into 4 groups. North, Midlands and South England, along with putting together the other countries of the UK.

It is the Midlands that have the biggest leave proportion of the vote.

Super-Region / Remain / Leave / Leave %

Countries / 2,874,245 / 2,222,336 / 43.6%

Midlands / 3,688,827 / 5,111,533 /58.1%

North / 3,419,913 / 4,325,965 / 55.8%

South / 6,158,256 / 5,750,908 / 48.3%

The Regional Leave percentages are as follows. The 1st, 2nd and 5th ranked regions are in the Midlands of England.

West Midlands 59.3% East Midlands 58.8% North East 58.0% Yorkshire and The Humber 57.7% East 56.5% North West 53.7% South West 52.6% Wales 52.5% South East 51.8% Northern Ireland 44.2% London 40.1% Scotland 38.0%
