Begin Rant. I think the next phase beyond lean impact data is to make the entrepreneur the customer of impact metrics, not the investor or funder. Design tools and dashboards that enable the entrepreneur to reach their business and impact goals, (with impact being core to the business model and business success) and investors will increase their financial return and get the data they need.
Even lean impact metrics can be a friction-producing, impact-reducing additional transactional cost without additive value. The underlying oppression of investors forcing metrics on social entrepreneurs does not need to be merely amended, or balanced but flipped on its head. Design metrics from the entrepreneur upward not from the investor downward. End Rant.
