Letter to humanity
It is ‘that’ time, never encountered before by many;
Perhaps the only such period in our generation,
The period when tomorrow is promised no one,
The period of terror and fear — fear of the known and unknown.
In this letter, I share pieces of my pain…!
Pain for all who lost loved ones, and the virus sick,
Pain for the broken — whose lives rely on human proximity,
Pain for the children, oblivious of this period,
Pain for my lot; holed up in small hostel rooms…
…in the uninvited company of loneliness,
Other times the therapeutic warmth of tears,
Pain for men and women being violated in the name of love,
…and have to endure the company of their oppressor,
Pain for those whose living conditions knows no distance,
In this letter are pieces of my hope…!
Hope in researchers and healthcare workers,
Hope for diligence in keeping distance and handwashing,
Hope that even to die is to gain,
Hope that heartbreaks aren’t fatal,
Hope that, something will remain of our shattered dreams,
…and that in the end, even shards of pottery are useful,
I hope in the realization that the world is hurting…
…And purpose to hurt no one no more!
This letter carries my love and the hope that pain will find love!
