The Hawethorn Studies

The Hawthorne studies revealed some very intresting things about the work force. The Hawthorne studies aimed to analyze and imporve the work efficiency. There were four major phases: illumination studies, relay assembly test room studies, the interview program, and the bank room studies.

They found that when workers were watched and paid more attention to, there was a significant impact on behavior. They also found that when management style was more open to communication, output improved.
