Happy Summer! Here in the northern hemisphere, June 20 is the longest day of the year. It’s the time when the sun and moon are equally balanced in their journeys through Earth’s sky. I realize that may sound like a pre-Copernican way of speaking, but from our perspective, that’s what it looks like.

Perspective is everything.

When we perceive things in our environment, we take them to be true — which is why we thought the sun revolved around the earth for so many years. We were so attached to this theory that Copernicus dictated that his findings only be revealed after his death — because his findings contradicted the beliefs and doctrines of the Catholic Church.

So beliefs strongly influence how we behave.

How often do we find ourselves forced to buy into a belief system that feels outdated or irrelevant?

How many of us are brave enough to speak our truth when faced with the criticism — or even accusations of heresy- of the dominant belief system?
