The Era of Rich Slaves.
Physical slavery in America ended in the 1860’s, but what many people don’t think about is the Mental Slavery that took its place.
What do I mean by this?
We are living in an era where many executives, athletes, and celebrities are enslaved by the corporations and/or investors that are paying them. Many famous and wealthy people never publicly speak how they truly feel because of how it may affect their business relationships, which ultimately affects their livelihoods.
This is such a depressing way to live.
So many people die with words left unsaid. Words that could have liberated and enlightened people that really needed it. I have been in these kinds of corporate situations and they have taught me to never be affraid to speak my mind. I will never be silenced for a piece of paper.
It’s better to die broke and authentic, than rich and controlled.
This is why people like Malcolm X, Tupac, and Muhammad Ali were so legendary. They will live forever because they never feared speaking their truth.
I’ve been in situations where I’ve felt that speaking my mind could close financial doors for me, but once I got money, I realized those are doors that are not meant for me to enter. I don’t care to do business with anyone that doesn’t except who I truly am.
I see so many people conforming just to get ahead financially. Fuck that. How can you look in the mirror knowing people are financing someone your not?
Thats why its so important to get your branding right from day one. You have to be your authentic self from the beginning. Some people act a certain way to achieve financial goals, then let out who they really are. Thats not the right way to do it, because once people discover who you really are they will feel betrayed and deceived. This can lead to a damage of your reputation.
If you had shown people who you truly were from the beginning, you won’t have to worry about this.
The main thing to remember is to simply be yourself. Money comes and go’s and often times we forget that its man-made.
Shout out to all non-conformists that will never sellout for corporate and/or political interests.
