Derrick Rose Almost Chose LAL; Could Get Starting Role with Cavs

Before choosing to team up with Lebron James and the Eastern Conference juggernaut Cleveland Cavaliers, former Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose was very close to wearing the iconic purple and yellow of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Rose signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday for a veteran minimum salary of $2.1 million across the length of the 2017–2018 season. Although Rose in a Laker uniform won’t come to fruition next season, Shelburne’s reveal in the above tweet has major league-wide implications.
— Rose was unwilling to accept a sixth-man role in Los Angeles, yet the Cleveland Cavaliers have four-time NBA All Star Kyrie Irving on the roster at the starting point guard spot.
— Did the Cavaliers promise Rose the starting job in Cleveland because they plan on trading Irving? Recent reports have painted a picture of a malcontent Irving who wants out of Cleveland to pursue his own ambitious desires as a №1 option on another team. Does the Rose signing transform these trade talks from rumors to something that is inevitable and imminent?
— Most importantly from the viewpoint of Chicago Bulls fans: Would the Bulls be involved in a three-team trade that could potentially land Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade in Cleveland, thus reuniting three of the four original banana boat members?
The Bulls offseason could get really interesting, really soon.
