Isaiah Canaan Fighting for NBA Life

How is this for a fall from grace?
After filling in effectively in the playoffs when Rajon Rondo went down with injury, recently waived former Chicago Bulls point guard Isaiah Canaan will have to earn his way onto another team if he hopes to play in the NBA next season.
The 26-year-old, NBA journeyman averaged 4.6 points on 36.4 percent from the field (26.6 percent from 3-point land) last season in sporadic minutes with the Bulls. In three playoff games, he averaged 11.7 points per game on 50 percent from the field, perhaps saving his NBA career for the time being and earning him this tryout.
According to the Charlotte Observer, the Hornets are looking for a third point guard to add to the roster behind starter Kemba Walker and backup Michael Carter-Williams.
Canaan has to shoot the ball better from 3-point land to have any shot of “winning” this group tryout as his long-range shooting is perhaps his only NBA-level skill. All four guards who are part of the tryout process have deeply flawed games, although Norris Cole seems like the early favorite to “win” the tryout since he’s an established NBA point guard who averaged double-digit scoring as recently as two seasons ago.
