Case in point: my own Papa (whom I call Daddy, LOL) lives on a street named after one of France’s most famous historians.
To many French folks, culture = wealth, and our schooling system does a great job of getting that message across.
Some of our authors literally enjoy rock star status, the latest of those being Édouard Louis, whose gutsy prose goes some way toward filling a gap in a literary tradition that had long neglected the working class. The End of Eddy is a worthy and enlightening read.
