I hope you enjoyed my CV, please feel free to request more information about any other work I’ve done (there is more). I haven’t included everything because I’m narrowing my focus of what I want to do and the above experience shows jobs that I’ve done that align with where I want to be. Strengths and Skills

Strengths

These are the combination of my talents — or my most natural thoughts, feelings, and behaviours — and the time I’ve invested in honing these talents to be effectively applied. In short [talent x invested time = strengths].

Skills

Skills are acquired and practiced knowledge and experience. For me, skills are things pretty much anyone can learn, with some exceptions. For example, it’s the ability to learn and use software, or to learn the features of your companies product etc.

Although talents, skills, and knowledge are each important for building a strength, talent is always the most important.

My Strengths

My most dominant strengths based on the Gallup assessment are as follows:

  1. Futuristic
  2. Maximizer
  3. Self-Assurance
  4. Connectedness
  5. Arranger
  6. Includer
  7. Ideation
  8. Positivity
  9. Relator
  10. Empathy

I will explain my top 5 in normal english. For me Futuristic helps me think strategically, I will vividly imagine visions of what could be. For example, coming up with multiple versions of what a project or feature could look like helps me think about the best way forward. I’m also inspired by visions of the future. This is why most of my work focuses on projects that believe in a better world (most recently WikiHouse).

Maximizer for me, is the ability to naturally want to take something that is good or even great and improve on it. This could be from an on boarding process for a new user, or improving individuals in a team but helping them identify and see their best strengths (hence why I studied StrengthsFinder).

Self-Assurance is having an inner compass. I don’t try to be outwardly confident and am generally sure within myself without making a point of it in my CV (wait a minute…). This particular strength is useful when I need to influence peers or even customers and can help me with a sale or getting people on board with a project I really believe will work.

Connectedness draws me to projects that have a social mission, or a mission that places a core need of many individuals at the centre. For WikiHouse this was about the belief that there is a solution to the housing crisis and we have the knowledge, skills, and tools we need to achieve it. For Chambers Sessions it’s about the belief that artists have something to say and the best place they can say it is in an intimate environment where they can be heard, not ignored or drowned in loud, drunken, banter (not that there isn’t a time for that type of music).

And finally my innate ability to juggle multiple balls, or spin many plates. Arranger for me is the ability to focus on multiple projects at once, or a single project that has many different moving parts. I can’t stand working on only one task, in one platform for the entire day. Of course sometimes you need to make sacrifices but generally speaking, this is when I do my best work. A win for you and your company, and a win for me, my energy, and mental and emotional health.

Includer is the natural ability to be accepting of others. I show awareness of those who feel left out, and make an effort to include them.

Ideation is all about a fascination of ideas. I’m able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.

Positivity gives me an enthusiasm that many say is contagious. I’m more often than not, upbeat and can get others excited about what they are going to do.

Relator speaks to my passion for building close relationships with others. I get deep satisfaction in working hard with friends to achieve a goal.

Empathy lets me sense the feelings of other people by imagining myself in others’ lives or others’ situations.

Skills

These are more straight forward. I can manage and use all the standard ‘21st century’ tools from Slack, Trello, MailChimp to social tools like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and various third party tools like Perfect Audience and Buffer. My strengths lend me towards having very strong inter-relational skills but I also am experienced with finance tools like Xero and CRM systems.
