I stand with you, out here in Eureka CA. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ community, identifying as a non-binary pansexual. Because I am white, female and married to a male, I can “get by” in public space. But I am, and have been, for my entire life, an advocate for those who are on other parts of the sexual spectrum (sexual orientation OR identification).
Everyone has the right to identify themselves in a way that feels true to who they are. No one has the right to force gender identity on anyone else, especially the normative cisgender binary.
Your story — and your court case — are inspirations for others who are faced with inappropriate, fear-based reactions to their self-identification. We are who we are, never mind the labels — because in the long run, we are all sacred beings, living together on this particular planet.
Keep up the good work, keep being an activist. We need every voice that we can get to drown out ignorance.
