You don’t need me to tell you this, but I will offer some little bit of support:
IT’S YOUR DAMNED BLOG. WRITE ABOUT WHATEVER YOU YOU YOU WANT TO!!!!!!!
As you pointed out, people don’t have to read it. And yes, by sharing you are helping — not just people who might also have disassociative disorder, but those of us who live with people who might have it — or might someday meet someone who has it. FWIW, you’re not the first person I know who has this illness.
I am fascinated by psychology/psychiatry — to the point where I first took it as a class in high school, then in college (30 years ago) and repeated that class in college just this year (boy how things have changed in 30 years!). I read books about it, talk about it… If I had been more focused, I might have even become a psychologist…although I have provided therapy for many folks for a very long time. (That whole empath thing…or my highly developed survival skill…either way, it allows me to listen and offer sensible advice for those who seek me out.)
Like you, I find that writing things down helps me to understand them better; I have my own blog about my health and life on WordPress. (I found that first, before I knew about Medium… :D ) So keep writing, dear Sarah — even if you decide not to share with us. Although I hope you will.
And if I were there, and you were willing, I know how to give one of those big bear hugs. Consider this the Zen (Internet) version…
Peace and blessings,
K
