How to collect content on Knowies
According to the yearly Global Digital Report people worldwide spend on average six hours per day online. In the time we spend online we come across many interesting articles, tutorials, interviews and other interesting content.
With Knowies we want to enable you to easily store and organize this content, share it with others and give you the opportunity to expose yourself on your favourite topics.
There are two different ways of collecting content on Knowies. We will start by explaining you the first way. If you are reading online content you want to save on Knowies, you must copy the URL (weblink) in your browser. Then you go to the Knowies website in your current or another tab. Once logged in, you can add the link by clicking the plus icon in the lop left of your screen.

After clicking the plus icon you can copy past the link in the pop-up and continue by clicking next. In the pop-up you will directly see our second option for saving content on Knowies (Browser extension) but we will come back on that later.

After clicking on next you will continue to our Edit content screen. A title and description will be shown, it is possible for you to change this. This is also the place where you can enter tags to your content. Enter a tag and press enter to add the tag, you can use multiple tags for your content.
If in the future you want to search for content about a certain topic you know you saved, the tags among other things will give you the results you are looking for. Don’t worry if you do not enter any tags we automatically generate tags for you apart from your own.
It is also possible to select an other image than the standard one given with the weblink. You can use the arrows underneath the image to change this. It is not possible to upload an image for content, it must be one of the images we select for you from the weblink.

After selecting your favourite image click on next. Here you need to select where you save your content. Knowies gives you to option to save content in either a collection and or a community. A collection is your own collection of content on a certain topic. A community is a shared collection with other users on a certain topic. If you do not have a collection or participate in a community yet you can add one in this step. It is also possible to do this via your homescreen where you can select collections and community’s on the left side.
When you make a collection or community you will be given the choice whether it will be public of private, with a collection you can change this over time, it is not possible to change this for a community to protect the other users. It is possible to save a link in multiple collections and community’s.

After saving the link you can find your link within the selected collections and community’s. As mentioned before there is a second very easy way of saving links on Knowies. Via our Browser Extensions. You can download one of our browser extensions on the right side of the pop-up when selecting the plus icon. For now the extensions are available for the browsers Chrome and Firefox. In the future more the extension will be available for more browsers.

After downloading one of the extensions on the official browser store, saving links is easier than ever before. If you are visiting content you want to save on Knowies just stay on the website and click on the Knowies logo (Paperclip K) on the top right side of your browser. You immediately get the choice to save the link in your collection and / or community’s.

We realize that by saving links via the extension we exclude a number of options for you. However, if you still want to adjust certain things as a title or picture, you can always do so by editing your content on the Knowies website afterwards.
We hope you will enjoy Knowies, please let us now if you have any suggestions.
