The Central Bank of Argentina has restricted the use of credit cards abroad. According to Infobae: “This afternoon the Central Bank strengthened exchange control, particularly in the use of credit cards abroad. However, neither the use nor the consumption is limited with this payment method, both for tourism and for other activities outside Argentina. “Financial institutions and other local card issuers must have the prior approval of the Central Bank to access the foreign exchange market to make payments abroad for the use of credit, debit or prepaid cards issued in the country as of 01.11. 19 inclusive, when such payments originate, directly or indirectly through the use of international payment networks ”, detailed Communication 6823 of the monetary authority”.
