Another Day… Another Mass Shooting…
How long is America going to wait?

As I sit here at my desk, looking at my computer… I am at a loss for words. I just watched President Obama’s remarks following the Oregon shooting and I am just at a loss for words…. How long is America going to wait to confront the NRA, the gun manufacturers, the gun lobby, and all of those who wish to continue perpetuating this cycle of minimal gun regulations and collecting a paycheck at the lives of other people. I am not saying that all the blame lays on the people who create and sculpt the gun policy in this country, but at this point…. doesn’t it feel like we should lay the blame where it should be?
Americans, every single day, are beginning to face the sad reality that you yourself could face a mass shooting, you yourself could lose friends and family members and your community can be impacted. We no longer can sit on the sidelines, while the congress in Washington sits on their hands and acts like toddlers. There is common sense gun regulations that can be put in place that properly protect the 2nd Amendment Rights of gun owners. We are allowing the NRA and the gun owning extremists to control all of the gun policy in the United States and as a result we are still facing mass shootings and countless victims of gun violence.
I posted about a month ago some of the common sense gun regulations that could be put into place. I am not saying that it will save every single life out there and I am not saying that it will make a positive impact even, but we owe it to the security of our own futures and the future of our country’s children to try. I was positive that Sandy Hook would be the last straw for many Americans, but congress held firm and shot down one provision that all gun owners support by huge margins… Universal Background Checks.

The GOP is changing their stance by saying the issue is being politicized, well shouldn’t it be? How else are we going to start the conversation or push for change? Should we just turn our cheeks and just say well “stuff happens” as a GOP candidate said today? No. Enough is enough! There are many, many people with mental illness and they don’t go out and shoot people every single day. On the conversation of mental illness, that is not a bragging point for the GOP either. Mental Illness issues with the GOP is almost as disappointing as their record on protection measures of firearms.
NO ONE WANTS TO COME IN AND TAKE YOUR GUNS!
The point above is absolutely ridiculous. People if you have read the Constitution at all, which I am assuming you haven’t… you know that there is a provision against “illegal search and seizure..” and the government coming and taking your guns (if you are a responsible gun owner) is the least of your issues.
My heart and thoughts go out to all the families in Oregon that were affected by this horrible tragedy and I hope… I hope that we can start the change and eliminate the chokehold that the NRA and the gun lobby has on Washington D.C. Its time for change…….
