Komen CSNJ Welcomes Mary Ellen Meara to Board of Directors and IMPACT Luncheon Committee

Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey (Komen CSNJ) announces the appointment of Mary Ellen Meara, CPA of WithumSmith+Brown, PC to its board of directors and as the co-chair of the 2018 IMPACT Luncheon committee.

“We are thrilled to have Mary Ellen as part of the Komen CSNJ board of directors, and to already be so involved in our upcoming IMPACT Luncheon event,” said Suzanne Corson, executive director of Komen CSNJ. “Her professional experience, community involvement and commitment to the Komen mission will drive this organization forward and help fulfill its vision of a world without breast cancer.”

Meara has been an active supporter of Komen CSNJ since she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, attending the annual Race for the Cure each year and connecting with other survivors like herself.

“It is an honor to join the board of directors of the Susan G. Komen Central and South Jersey Affiliate,” said Meara. “Being a breast cancer survivor is like being in a special group; we have a bond. I like to think of myself as an example for others fighting now that it is possible to come out strong on the other side.”

Her passion for the fight against breast cancer inspired Meara to take a leadership role in the upcoming IMPACT Luncheon fundraiser on March 23, 2018 at the Hamilton Manor. The IMPACT Luncheon is an event aiming to educate and inspire while raising funds for life-saving breast cancer services in our local communities.

“My mission as a board member is to try and get the word out about what Susan G. Komen does, while using my talents as a fundraiser to support the cause,” said Meara. “Giving back to an organization that I relied on when I was going through a tough time is important to me.”

Meara has over 25 years of experience in the accounting industry, most recently in her role as Tax Senior Manager at WithumSmith+Brown, PC, where she has worked for the past decade. In this position, Meara specializes in estate and trust administration, including the preparation of estate and inheritance tax returns, as well as fiduciary tax returns and accountings.

Meara graduated from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) with a degree in accounting. Additionally, she is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJSCPA) and Mercer County Estate Planning Council.
