Australia, the place where many people consider to be dangerous, filled with wild animals, giant spiders, and bizarre creatures, basically anything that crawls in the sands and might kill you.

Well in reality, Australia is friendlier than you think and life in an Australian city such as Melbourne is very dynamic and exciting. Here are some tips that you should take note whenever you decided to move to Melbourne. Again there are some pros and cons when you move to another country. So I’ll try to give you as much as information possible.

Here, something really exciting about Melbourne: You truly cannot get bored there. Considered as one of the great cities in the world: in addition to the city’s numerous world class shopping malls, Melbourne is also the Australian “paradise” for eateries, cafes, street art, galleries, boutiques and parks. Numerous green spaces compliment the urban environment of the city beautifully.

Australians are very down to earth and are always mindful not to boast. That’s is the reason why they have a culture of an “egalitarianism”. They despise snobbery and class -consciousness.

Melbourne is also known to be famous for its coffee culture. In addition to the standard latte and cappuccino, you can opt for the popular flat white, a combination of espresso and steamed milk, a standard espresso; or a macchiato: an espresso with a dash of frothy milk. If the weather is warm, you can try iced coffee, typically served with ice cream and whipped cream.

Fashion in Australia? Well, just wear black. It’s a trend in Australia to have black clothes everywhere you go. However, Australians are not fashionistas either, if you are not comfortable wearing black especially on a hot day, then just wear the clothes that you are most comfortable with.

As for transportation: Melbourne has a tram system. The tram network there is quite efficient. Before boarding the tram, you must first purchase a myki card, available at newsagents and train stations, and ‘touch on’ with it every time you board a tram or other form of public transportation. If you take a train, be sure to ‘touch off’ as well.

Melbourne and foodies: Melburnians love good food, and are prepared to debate endlessly about which restaurants are best. Fusing food is not uncommon in the city. In fact it’s just another aspect to show how the locals love the multicultural world.’

If you are invited by a Melburnian in his home, remember to bring a gift. Gifts are always appreciated in Australia.

Where typical British wit is either slapstick or dry, Aussie’s like theirs dark and ironic. Take this as an example: Australia Day in January actually celebrates the first landing of a ship full of convicts on Australian soil. It’s all about gentle self-mockery here, which surprises many.

One common religion in Australia: Sport. If you’re not the type of person who loves to work out, then you might have trouble fitting in with the Australians especially in Melbourne. But the least you can do is try to keep up with sports events in Australia such as football.

If you want to buy a property in Melbourne well …. Good luck… The prices are extremely high. Home buyers need to be aware that the real estate laws in Australia favour the seller. Despite Australia’s remarkable financial prosperity, life in Australia can be extremely expensive. For example, the Health insurance can costa lot of money.

Watch out for the sunlight in Australia, extreme exposure to the sun and the UV radiations can cause skin cancer. This is why Australia has the highest skin cancer rates in the world.

Have fun in Melbourne!
