Toulouse, France
Toulouse is situated in the Languedoc-Roussillon Midi-Pyrenees region which is in the south west of France. It is the fourth French city behind Paris, Marseille and Lyon with 453 317 habitants. Toulouse is a very beautiful city with special architecture. It is called:” La ville rose” which is a tribute to the rose colored bricks that have created a sense of pride and identity. A side from being a big aerospace city, Toulouse is a one of the biggest student cities in France.
The climate in the summer there is very hot and dry with a soft winter.
When in Toulouse here are a few things you could do:
First of all, going to Toulouse it is very simple. Weather you take the plane, train, bus it is easy. The airport is called aeroport de Toulouse Blagnac located 20 minutes away from the city by car. There is also a tram that can take you in the city. You can also join Toulouse by train, the main station is called Toulouse Matabiau.
While in Toulouse you will pass by or on the Capitole. It’s inevitable, this big place in the middle of the city is a powerful and symbolic place for the Toulouse people. They often gather on that place for big sport events, concerts and other. For those who are interested they can take advantage of the architecture and rich history of this city, there are Churches, Basilisks and plenty of museums. It is a cultural hub for ballet, classical music and opera held in the theatre du Capitole.
This city is young and active, the proximity with Spain is so that the culture is similar, the people of Toulouse have a strong passion for partying. Once the day is over the bars fill up with nice music and great ambiance. Tapas and wine after work?
Balade au canal du midi, enjoy a walk, jog on the riverside in the middle of the city. It creates a sense of peacefulness in a city that is busy.
La charcuterie, le fromage et les confiseries! The region where Toulouse is placed in is the first region to offer so much diversity in culinary specialties so food wise you chose one of the best places in France to go to. The south west values everything that is artisanal and traditionally French.
Being in Toulouse is convenient, because you have the Pyrenees, where you can enjoy all sort of activities around mountains. The scenery going there is very special because you will zigzag your way through these mountains enjoying great views. You can also go to the beach not very far from the city. You can go to Narbonne plage or Gruissan plage or the whole south east coast with Marseille, Nice, Cannes, Montpellier and Perpignan. Toulouse isn’t far from Spain and there fore isn’t far from Barcelona.
