Xi’an

A beautiful small city located in the Shaanxi province. This small city is known in China for its historical landmarks. Such as some remains of the infamous Army of Terracotta warriors or the Big Goose pagoda.

If you really enjoy some local markets than Xi’an might be the best place for you in all of China. The city has some of the most amazing night markets and locally daytime markets in all of the country. If you are interested, here is a list of the most popular ones in Xian:

Barley Night Market Street: Located downtown in an area that plays host to a large population of China’s indigenous Muslim Hui people, this market specializes in halal foods. Not only the food, but also the architecture and activities of the area and the dress of its inhabitants pay tribute to their Islamic origins.

Dapiyuang Night Market: A really infamous night market if you are a foodie for Chinese cuisine.

Huajue Alleyway: You can find handcraft products in this market. It is an antique street for finding nice pieces of handicrafts. Of course, shoppers need to exercise your oriental patience and bargain a lot on those articles.

One of the biggest asset of the city might also be the business development there. Despite the city’s ancient historical environment, Xi’an also has a really good industrial footing in China. The aircraft industry is highly developed there: Xi’an Aircraft Industrial Corporation is one of the biggest aeronautical industry in China.

Finding an apartment in Xian to rent is pretty difficult, but not to worry, there is some places in Xi’an that might interest you depending on your budget and your occupation

Here are some examples: If you are a teacher, then there is a company called Carefree Living that can help you find an apartment near any Xi’an’s University.

If you work near the High tech district of Xi’an, then there is a local area called Yija which has a lot of apartments there. If you really want to rent an apartment in Xian than I highly suggest you to do some research first.

As for transportation, the city has its own subway and bus system. You can buy ticket but I suggest you to buy the Xian Public Transportation Card, also known as Chang An Tong or Yi Ka Tong, like the MetroCard in New York City and the Oyster Card in London, is a kind of smart card which can be widely used on buses and the subway. It offers a 50% discount on each bus trip and a 10% discount on the subway. You can also pay your taxi fares with this card if you happen to take a cab.
