Arrival:
The journey to the zoo is very idyllic: Take tram 5 from the station across Nuremberg to the zoo. When you reach the terminus, walk through a wooded area.
Lagoon:
The lagoon offers visitors a completely new zoo landscape without concrete and buildings. This is because the Nuremberg Zoo has been designed close to nature and has a very beautiful landscape character. The special thing here is that dolphins swim together with sea lions under the open sky. Visitors can watch the whole thing from a grandstand or under a beautiful underwater panorama window.
The “Landscape Zoo”:
This landscape zoo is probably one of the most beautiful zoological gardens in Europe: the fascination of the rock formations of red sandstone, the ancient trees and the idyllic pond landscapes characterise one of the largest zoological gardens. For animals are offered a beautifully designed large area that is adapted differently to each animal. The animals also have their own zones where they can retreat from visitors. In total, the zoo has up to 308 animal species (as of 2017) on an area of about 63 hectares.
Polar bear flaminguin:
The subject matter at Nuremberg Zoo ranges from native freshwater, tropical river courses and coastal areas to the open sea. From the southern European Dalmatian pelican to the South American Chilean flamingo, from the polar bear to the penguin, from the otter to the dolphin. There is also a desert landscape: deserts, semi-deserts and steppes take up a lot of space and are thematised as highly sensitive habitats. Hardly any other zoo has so many and such exquisite animal species from the world’s arid regions as Nuremberg Zoo.
Prices Nuremberg Zoo:
The prices at Nuremberg Zoo are okay, considering that the zoo has a lot to offer. Adults pay 18.00 euros, children aged 4 to 13 8.50 euros, concessions (schoolchildren, students, pensioners etc.) 16.00 euros, and a family ticket is available for a moderate 42.00 euros.
Another thing to mention is that it is possible to borrow a trolley to take your child, biscuits and cones with you on a leisurely tour of the park. The whole thing costs only 4 euros. Great fun for children, it seems to me. Speaking of children, children and young people under the age of 14 are only allowed on the grounds of the Nuremberg Zoo when accompanied by an adult.

I think the zoo offers a very varied mix of all kinds of attractions, whether for young or old. The attractions are quite close to each other which has the advantage that you can see a lot in a short time. It has to be said that the zoo in Nuremberg is not as good as the big zoo in Leibzig. I also think that the animals are kept very well and that they have many opportunities. A clear recommendation for people who love animals and want to explore. The staff is very friendly and can tell you a lot about the different animals.
