Design Thinking
This is about one of the thought-provoking sessions I attended and the speaker is Mrs. Sonia Manchanda, Founding Partner, SPREAD Design and Innovation.

It all started with that hashtag #designsense.
Design Thinking is basically about ideation and iterative process in product development, which includes 6 steps, Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test. We as developers have to put ourselves into others shoes to identify what actually the customer needs. Nobody can be right in the first shot. It’s about how the idea gets improved in every version of its iterative development. There comes the term called, BodyStorming, which is a creative technique to imagine what it would be like if the product existed, and act as though it exists, ideally in the place it would be used.
We all have heard about Artificial Intelligence! But then, what this Swarm Intelligence is about?
Swarm — actually means dense or large group, intelligence — nothing but making things smarter. So, put together with an example, a group of ants can do much greater things than a single ant. Swarm robotics is booming technology nowadays. But, the term is not so buzzing until now. A swarm of robots would work on the same principles as an ant colony: each member has a simple set of rules to follow, leading to self-organization and self-sufficiency.
So, let’s concentrate on the real players of this game. Whatever we do, we develop, ultimately this is going to be for some customer. The model that we develop has to be human-centered. Then behavioral economics studies those psychological, cognitive and emotional factors that are leading to economic growth.
There 6D Exponential Forces that take us to 8D Process,
Digitise, Deception, Disruptive, Demonetise, Dematerial, Democratise, Dream, Design
Each term has its own prominence and value. It is imperative to understand those before designing.

Some of the notable ones, (check out each thing in detail, it’s really fascinating)

Unknowingly, design thinking plays a vital role even in our daily life, so I started searching for those interesting things that can be easily incorporated into our lives,
Design Thinking lies in our day to day life,
Why not we formulate the answer from the steps of design thinking,
- Empathise yourself — self-empathy is the foremost one to be taken care before you nourishing others. You have to self-analyze yourself on your positive and negative things, like listening to your own self and understanding it better. For this, my kind advice is, start writing a diary, which makes you keep track of yourself. This helps me a lot to trace out the difference between my old and the new version of myself. How I was and How I am.
- Design your thoughts — as a creative soul, everybody will have our own ideas and unanswered questions in our mind. Start thinking about it, invest your time in figuring out what is that one thing that blocks you to achieve something. Mindmap of thoughts can pave a way for you to achieve this to the fullest.
- Ideate through the process — As I said already, nobody can be right as the first shot, ideate in an iterative manner, fine-tune your thoughts to arrive the best. Never give up on the second best.
- Practice as a Prototype — Just practice on what you have framed in your mind. Experience can teach you in a better way than anything. Make sure that you have that quest until the end. If you feel bored with your routine, think why did you start this.
- Test it! — Finally, the most crucial stage, test yourself, trace your path, whether you actually achieve it. Else, if you are not satisfied, don’t worry! Even ‘Experience’ makes a man perfect.
As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb.
Be Creative. Be Innovative. Be Imaginative.
