This is great Max Stroud! If I may, I would like to suggest a couple great STEM resources that my own child has enjoyed.
Scratch, from MIT: https://scratch.mit.edu/ — it’s like having building blocks of code. Great introduction to programming (and it’s free!)
A MakeyMakey board: http://www.makeymakey.com/ — great way for them to begin building their own circuits.
We even combined them and had a group of kids build their own Operation game using Scratch, MakeyMakey, wires, a pizza box and some chopsticks. It was a blast. http://hackerguild.org/makey-makey-scratch-operation-game-desert-island-card-game/
