One of my all time favourite plays/movies is “Same Time Next Year”. The film starred Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn.

John Lennon said that life is something that happens while we make other plans — or something like that, I’m too busy to Google it. I know what he meant. My rut is so deep, I would need a JCB to get out of it. There’s work; ‘She Who Must Be Obeyed’; my aged Ps; multiple sprogs; more work; social commitments; boring dinner parties; sex with SWMBO; did I mention work? No time to exercise; no time to relax. My stress levels are permanently through the roof.

I would be dead without my hibernation. No one knows about my secret. We meet on the same weekend every year in Sydney. My wife thinks I go on a company training course. Once a year, all of my stress is relieved. For forty-eight hours, I think about nothing but the pleasures two people can bring to each other. We lock ourselves away in a hotel room, with only room service to disturb us. It is the best sex of my life. I think that I’ve fallen in love. I often fantasise about both of us leaving our wives.
