Masada The Beginning

Chpt. 2 Hanaya pt. 2

Azariel jogged up the rocky hill. When he reached the top of the hill, he saw a beautiful lake. The blue water sparkled as the sunlight blazed upon it. The water gently reached the shore from time to time. Seagulls screeched from above the lake. Azariel slid down the steep hill onto the hot sand. He took off his boots ad walked barefoot to the water.

Several yards in the water, there was a girl. Her brown skin glistened with water trickling from her limbs. Her long black hair blew as the wind swept through her.

Azariel crept up to her with great stealth.

“Bo!” he said in her ear. She jumped around and faced Azariel with a frightened face. She soon smiled and laughed jumping into his arms.

“Azariel your back,” she yelled kissing Azariel on the lips.

“I’ve missed you Hanaya so much I couldn’t stay in Dragonia any longer,” said Azariel carrying her out of the water. She jumped onto the sand.

“I’ve missed you too; that’s why when you were gone I made you this,” said Hanaya giving Azariel a necklace. The crystal ornament on it was a shiny pink leaf.

“Ah its pink,” said Azariel she glared at him. “ I’m just playing thank you Hanaya,” said Azariel trying to put on the necklace.

“You better like it. Here let me help you out with that,” said Hanaya putting the necklace on Azariel. “There you go,” said Hanaya smiling at Azariel with her radiant purple eyes. Azariel touched the hard crystal petal, and let out a breath of frustration.

“What’s wrong?” asked Hanaya.

“I just feel selfish, you giving me this necklace and I didn’t even give you anything,” said Azariel.

“Don’t worry about it Azariel as long as you are here with me that is all I can ever ask for,” she said hugging Azariel.

“Yes that’s good to know but I still want you to have something from me,” said Azariel. Azariel thought for a second and then had something in mind. “Here you go,” said Azariel handing Hanaya a black and gold shard. Hanaya held the shard her face showed happiness and curiosity at the same time.

“Thanks, Azariel but what is it?” asked Hanaya.

“Well, it’s a shard from my sword. Don’t worry it’s not sharp,” said Azariel. She smiled and gave him a hug.

“Thanks, Azariel,” she said kissing him on the cheek.

They sat there on the sand just talking about whatever came to mind. When there was nothing else to talk about Hanaya leaned up against Azariel and they would just watch the waves crash up along the shore. The sun was setting now, and the temperature dropped several degrees.

“Let’s go before it gets too cold,” said Azariel. Hanaya nodded, and they got up and walked quietly back to the green plains.

“Azariel,” said Hanaya out of the blue.

“Yeah what’s up,” said Azariel the cicadas were croaking loud.

“Are you going to fight in the tournament?” asked Hanaya.

“Yep I have to kind of, but I do want to compete. It’s the only thing I remember how to do,” said Azariel.

“You are always fighting,” said Hanaya looking away. Azariel looked at her and smiled. “Why can’t you spend more time with me?” she finished.

“Ah, after the tournament I will make up for it,” said Azariel coming up with something quickly. Hanaya gave Azariel her usual glare. “Come on now you know I will. I’ve done it many times before,” he said nudging Hanaya. Her frown soon turned into a smile.

“You better,” she said in a joking matter. There was a nice house with good crops around it.

“It’s best you stop here. If my dad sees you here with me he will kill you,” said Hanaya laughing.

“You are right after what happened; I wouldn’t mind repeating it either,” said Azariel smirking.

“You are so naughty Azariel,” said Hanaya kissing Azariel for a long time.

“That’s it for now, bye,” said Hanaya.

“Alright goodnight, sleep tight, don’t let me come in and hit that,” he was interrupted by Hanaya.

“Azariel,” she whispered loudly.

“Alright, alright I’ll be a good boy but how about one more kiss.

“Whatever,” said Hanaya rolling her eyes.

“Thank you,” said Azariel.

“Now go home,” said Hanaya.

All right goodnight Hanaya,” said Azariel.

“Good night she said. Azariel watched Hanaya walk into the house and close the door. Suddenly a loud noise came from his stomach.

“So hungry,” said Azariel running back to Rishin’s house. It was dark now and stars were so vivid you could touch them. Azariel entered the small house. The house was opened all aspects of the house were exposed except for the bathroom. Lamps gave off a dimmed light. There was one bed in the house. Rishin was in the kitchen making some food.

“You were out late what were you doing. You know what never mind I don’t want to know,” said Rishin putting, what looked to be like the chicken on the two plates. Azariel signed and sat down on a stool in the kitchen.

“Sorry,” said Azariel not really meaning it. Rishin brought the plates to the table next to Azariel. Azariel grabbed the plate and began to eat. Rishin grabbed a chair and started with his food. They ate silently without looking at each other all attention was on their food.

Suddenly Azariel exhaled and stopped eating.

“So you wanted to talk to me about something?” asked Azariel looking at Rishin. The old Ghanakian wiped his face with a towel, sat straight and turned to Azariel.

“Your back here early,” said Rishin looking at Azariel seriously.

“I’m more than ready to win this tournament,” said Azariel.

“Do you know what this tournament determines? The Gye Nyame determines who will be the strongest warrior in the Ghanakian army. It could make you a general just like me and from there you can possibly be king. Being a general you could pursue your goal in being the best fighter in the known universe,” said Rishin.

“Yes I know all of that its just I’m confident enough in my abilities as they are known to win it,” said Azariel.

“I understand that you are very powerful, but you can never be satisfied with what you have now. Why not train until you reach your full potential? Don’t be so big headed. You can have any mentality than that one you have right now. Do you understand?” said Rishin.

“Yes sir,” said Azariel realizing that he has been thinking wrong all this time.

Rishin nodded as he analyzed Azariel. He got up and walked over to his bed.

“We train in the morning, get some rest,” said Rishin as he lay in bed. Azariel finished his food and turned off all the lights with a powerful disperse of air from his mouth. He then went outside and there was a hammock. He laid on his backside and looked at the stars. There was one star that shined brighter than the others. Azariel never ever realized the star, but he was too tired from traveling from Dragonia to Earth. He soon fell asleep.

That night Azariel dreamed a very vivid dream. He was suddenly in a gothic cathedral he was sitting down on a bench facing a grand altar. The light came in through the painted glass windows. Azariel realized that he was sitting by a person in black garments. The person turned to him. It was a woman with eyes like his. Her skin and hair color was the same as his. Her hair was curly and long. She seemed to be a lot older than him. Something seemed to be nostalgic about her to Azariel despite her similar features. She held Azariel’s hand softly.

“Sephariah,” she said. Azariel smiled and nodded his head.

“Um that’s not my name wrong person,” he said politely. The woman’s eyes suddenly turned orange and her face turned into a man’s face, one identical to Azariel’s.

“I found you Sephariah!” said the strange being clutching Azariel’s hand tight.

“Let go!” said Azariel trying to break free from its grasp.

“Did you think you could run forever,” said the being getting closer.

Suddenly a strong gold radiant light came from the altar. The light burned the strange being it yelled loud in Azariel’s ear. Azariel awoke breathing hard it was still dark. His body was covered in sweat. He stood up for a while until his heartbeat slowed down to normal. He cautiously went back to sleep wondering about what he just dreamed.
