Despite the constant advent of new apps and social media sites, I don’t see the new driving out the old. Sure, Twitter may have ousted Facebook as the most popular status generator, but Facebook has plenty of other features that Twitter, Instagram, etc. cannot compete with. I think that this competition in the social media market has served to bring many innovative apps to light, each with their own focus and specified uses. I use Facebook to write statuses, post some pictures, and connect with friends; Instagram to make my pictures look pretty; and Snapchat to have face-to-face (well kind of…) photo convos with others. Each service achieves their own end; even if one is more popular than other, the differences in purpose always seem clear.
