OVERVIEW
Launching in summer 2022, Kryptoria is set in a semi-dystopian parallel universe where there is an ongoing war playing out between the forces of Web2 and Web3. Kryptoria’s Alpha Citizens represent the warriors of Web3 fighting against the control Web2 wants to exert via regulation, taxation and centralisation. As we head into uncertain times for NFTs and Web3, Alpha Citizens are the watchers on the walls. Always awake, always ready.

SUMMARY
Kryptoria is about creating incredible shared experiences for our community. From NFTs that can be updated post-mint, to a massive multiplayer online game, all set within a growing universe with deep rooted lore and story telling.
Our aim is to build trust in the space in order to help propel Web3 towards mass adoption. We truly believe in the power of decentralisation and the democratisation of utility that it can bring. As a space we are going through challenging times and we feel that building trust throughout the wider Web3 ecosystem is now more important than ever.
Our team wanted to bring their professional skills from the Web2 world into Web3. To demonstrate proven ability to plan, manage and execute an exciting and pioneering roadmap. Not one that is built in a day and then falls into distant memory. Instead we want to build a brand on rock solid foundations based around trust, innovation and fun.
We believe in doing the right thing, not the easy thing. We will keep building and listening.
DEEPER DIVE
Kryptoria is focused on pioneering some novel concepts into the space while ensuring genuine, long-term and tangible utility to holders.
We will not be introducing a native ERC-20 from the beginning. This is a conscious decision with nearly all projects who release this early on their roadmap seeing it fall to zero, with little to no value underpinning the token and the resulting volatility terrible for holders. Instead our primary focus is on establishing a powerhouse brand and building associated value.
We are looking to bring a more sophisticated and immersive game experience to space. The world of Kryptoria will be powered by the Unity game engine. Unity supports more than 50% of the world’s games as well as metaverses like Decentraland. As the project evolves, the world will become increasingly sophisticated, with more and more gameplay being built directly into the initial map. Eventually our aim is to provide a genuine metaverse experience. Most projects outline a plan to introduce this — Kryptoria is building it from the start. We are creating a genuinely immersive experience that will be not only a pivotal project in the space, but one that’s here for the long term.
Whilst we are professionally focused, our goal is to make Kryptoria fun, engaging and organic, but with a clear focus on long term value. Many degens look for a “team that is always building”. At Kryptoria, we believe building things that people actually want is most important. Listening to our community and getting feedback in realtime is an incredible advantage of Web3. We will be leveraging that as much as possible.
We are excited to pioneer dynamic NFTs in this format into the space. Web3 is all about decentralisation and we want to apply that to the creative process of NFTs themselves. This is not about introducing sub-standard art at the beginning but rather allowing Alpha Citizen holders to change/evolve/upgrade their characters over time. This will be done with in-game resources and provides holders with a compelling reason to play the game — not only to further in-game abilities, but also to provide tangible, real world utility.
ROADMAP
The roadmap is meant to give the community a sense of what we’re working on. It’s great for aligning the long term vision between the project team and holders. Kryptoria will bring truly pioneering and novel aspects to the space. Important points not covered on the roadmap:
- Discussions in place with prospective collaborations, both in the wider NFT space but also large, global brands. Our investors have close access to brand networks including LVMH. Strong progress on this front already.
- Dynamic NFTs will be integrated with IRL partnerships.
OUR TEAM
Thomas McAlpine (thomasmca.eth) — Co-Founder
I’m Thomas and I am one of the co-founders of Kryptoria. I was raised in the UK, but my mother is from California where I spent most of my summers growing up.
It has always been my dream to one day work on a sci-fi based video game, movie or book. The dawn of NFTs has made many people’s dreams come true and I felt NFTs would allow me to craft an incredible experience for people that could evolve with the community. Community is the single most important aspect of the NFT space. Bringing like-minded people together around shared experiences. I want Kryptoria to be an experience all can share.
In the Web2 world I am a tech founder based in London, UK. A few years ago I started an online marketplace for property called Addland (https://addland.com/). I have been through the incredible ups and downs that is the founder’s journey. We have raised over £10m to date and our team has grown to around 50 people. We are lucky to have had some of the top talent in the PropTech industry join Addland and together we are working to change the way people find, research, buy and sell property.
We have a full senior management team in place at Addland and my time is now 100% focused on Kryptoria. I am excited to bring the experience I have built up over my career delivering complex projects into the Web3 space.
I got into the Web3 space last year when a very old friend of mine started a project called “Cold Blooded Creepz”. They actually began working on the project out of our offices at Addland. They have gone on to be a highly successful project with an incredibly strong community. I know they have a ton of exciting things in their pipeline and we are often in touch with them to share ideas.
I don’t often have much downtime, but when I do, I enjoy traveling, spending time with close friends and family, watching movies and playing video games. Will Askew (0xKryptic) — Co-Founder
As a founder of this project, transparency and honesty is key.
My name is Will and I live and work in London. At a personal level, I’m not especially vocal or extroverted. I don’t have huge social media presence. But I absolutely love talking with people, getting to know them, and forming real friendships, particularly across the friendly Web3 landscape. Some of my happiest childhood memories are playing Counter Strike, GTA or Call of Duty and laughing with the online community. I know we can replicate that with Kryptoria.
For me, my ambitions are always centered around building, innovating and being a difference maker. Engineering situations that offer others the ability to enjoy themselves is a massive driving force. There is a great saying that the real pleasure in life is giving. It’s true.
For the last 10 years or so I’ve worked in tech — small businesses, large businesses — and combined that with a strong understanding of finance. I’ve spent time at some small start-ups, helping to get them off the ground. And learning some things not to do. I’ve spent time helping incubate small tech businesses as part of a VC. We provided them with funding and a framework to flourish. And I learnt some things not to do. But a large portion of the last few years was spent building what became Europe’s largest and fastest growing platform for people to have their savings professionally overseen. Transparency and democratisation of access were our guiding stars.
When I left last year, we had 150,000 clients and some of the most advanced tech in the space. It was amazing to see people have access to a service that only a few years before simply didn’t exist. For all the challenges, I was lucky to witness growth, innovation and progress like that.
Do things happen for a reason? Or are happenings a product of reason? I don’t know. But what I do know is as I began really understanding blockchain technology and morph into a full Degen, I pretty much ran down the rabbit hole. I had my fair share of getting burnt. The usual case of over promise, under deliver. Some projects were amazing though, including one launched by a close friend at the end of last year. Seeing the excitement, enthusiasm and enjoyment of his community against a backdrop of a lot of the space provided real inspiration. I’m so excited to bring you all along for the journey into Kryptoria. I can assure you, this is going to be a project like no other.

Zahraa Alkhaleef (irritated.eth)— Operator
Curiosity is underrated. I went to university to study Molecular Cell Biology, with ambitions of becoming a surgeon. Covid hit and the isolation drew my curiosity to NFTs — soon I found myself immersed in Web3 full time. Family, professors and colleagues all dismissed web3 as a fad and were not in support of my newfound world. Total fudders. When people lack curiosity, they dismiss new opportunities instead of taking the time to explore them. Remember when people thought that playing video games wasn’t a practical way to make money? Today, top-earning gamers and creators make millions a year.
Right click save? Funny. We are in the era where artists, blockchain builders and enthusiasts are able to generate livable income through NFTs. A jpeg sold for $532 million in 2021, right click and save that… Working in labs and Web2 companies hasn’t been nearly as enjoyable as my time in Web3. Today, I am a full time degen, have co-founded my own blockchain based startup, launched a DAO, and most importantly have become a part of communities that I will forever cherish.
With time comes experience. I learned to be bullish on curiosity. I consider Tom and Will experts in their fields. They offer insightful, innovative and pragmatic solutions that deliver on objectives, metrics and directly drive performance. Successful af builders. Most importantly, they are curious. Curiosity is linked to success because it leads to creativity and discoveries — it drives you into the unknown.
