The topic is really shaky. I believe specialism and generalism geos with the personality of the person. I know people who are autodidact and I know people who tried to be but got lost in that world. Taking me as an example, teaching myself stuff can take years while I could make alot of progress in just months when am being taught. It all boils down to the personality and make up of a person
