I could absolutely get on board with simply paying social workers and such more money. However, I suspect that simply allotting raises would be more politically difficult than making PSLF happen. If any politicians want to prove me wrong though, I encourage it. If the right wages increase, then I would be in favor of PSLF disappearing, as opposed to the current plan to get rid of it entirely without increasing wages for low-payed but socially essential government employees. Or perhaps PSLF could be maintained in a much more limited form (e.g. The government might occasionally offer to forgive small amounts of debt here or there to persuade qualified candidates to go into an understaffed but important occupation.).
